We love to see practical effects, not that VFX aren’t great, but usually in big blockbusters they are leaned on like a crutch.
We like to see a nice balance of Practical and Visual Effects, it reminds us of the films we loved growing up, and were an integral part of the original Star Wars.
So much so that first J.J. Abrams made a point of using a mixture of VFX and practical on The Force Awakens, and the sentiment seems to be echoing across the galaxy as Gareth Edwards has chosen to use animatronics, costume, make-up, molds for his new flick Rogue One.
This little featurette is a nice little look behind the curtain into seeing just how much work goes into designing a galaxy far away and long ago.
Take a look:
Rogue One is out in cinemas in Ireland Thursday 15th December.
