We've been hearing whispers of a cross over movie which would combines the worlds of 21 Jump Street and Men in Black for awhile now, but it mostly sounded like a joke, or a continuation of the hilarious sequel gags in the closing credits of 22 Jump Street.
Actually it's real.
Sony Pictures were out at CinemaCon in Las Vegas and confirmed not only the existence of the film but also its title - MIB 23.
The title doesn't make any sense but then it isn't really supposed to - this is pretty much a way for a major studio to take a joke and expand it out to an actual movie, and in the process earn some goodwill for the Men in Black series which has been stalling on its way to a revival for years. The tone of the Jump Street movies is silly enough to support this kind of action and even if the end result is terrible it's not that likely to hurt the main franchises.
So it's a win, win - and everyone else seems to think so too. Jump Street stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are on board, though Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones/Josh Brolin won't be involved. James Bobin could direct with a shooting date as early as June 2016.
