Almost exactly a year ahead of its July 20th 2012 release date, the final part in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy lands its first teaser trailer.
The Dark Knight Rises sees the end of the journey begun in 2005 with Batman Begins and continued in with the massive critical and commercial success of 2008’s The Dark Knight. With the help of Nolan, the series has helped to rejuvenate the comic book movie in a more serious direction.
The plot is being kept under wraps right now but we do know that the main surviving cast is set to return, joined this time around by chief baddie Bane (Tom Hardy) and potential villain/love interest Catwoman (Anne Hathaway). New cast members include Inception alums Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard.
The teaser gives us a glimpse of the journey of the character so far, from the isolation Batman Begins to him taking on the mantle of villain at the end of The Dark Knight. It’s epic, edgy and already has us excited for the finale of the best comic book adaptation ever to hit cinemas.
The Dark Knight Rises is still in production in the UK and will arrive in theatres on the 20th of July 2012.
