Lethal Weapon writer Shane Black has a new movie out called The Nice Guys and it's a typically hilarious buddy movie from the director of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
The filmmaker also has a new franchise film called The Predator in the works (he wrote the original folks) and has been muttering about another project for years. He's had a yearning to bring Doc Savage to the big screeen, and it looks like its finally happening - and with the perfect central casting too.
The Rock has announced that he's working with Black on his Instagram. Which is all kinds of awesome.
As usual, Senor Rock has a lot to say about the project, including making Savage out to be Superman before there was a Superman. The character has certainly been influential and he's the perfect actor to embody that kind of role. It's also going to be really interesting to see how that 'weirdness' is dealt with on the big screen, particularly as this is likely to a big budget film and one that's for a family audience.
After several years out of the spotlight its great to see Black picking up so many projects and managing to mix smaller and bigger films, he might finally get the attention he deserves as a filmmaker. And Dwayne Johnson just can't be stopped, with appearances in Central Intelligence, Moana and Baywatch already set for this year and a slew of titles on the way including Fast 8, San Andreas 2, Jumanji, Journey 3 and Shazam!
Doc Savage will likely release in 2018.
