Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane, Ray Stevenson and Jon Bernthal. What do they have in common?
They are all, quite certainly, man-shaped and noted for pretty macho roles on screen. And, conveniently, they've all been cast as the Marvel character of The Punisher.
Bernthal has just joined these ranks as he's been confirmed to appear as Frank Castle (aka The Punisher) in the second season of Marvels Daredevil on Netflix. And the Walking Dead alum makes for perfect casting as a violent vigilante who wants to clean up the streets of New York, at any cost.
He's also a good fit for the Daredevil version of the Marvel-verse, as Castle doesn't pull and punches and the Netflix show has a lot more room to be free with the violence and blood-letting. It's not yet known if the two characters will be on friendly terms in the new season, or how much of the horrifying backstory of Castle we're going to get on screen.
We're going to go with him being introduced as a bit of an antagonist, slowly becoming an ally as the series continues. And it sounds like its going to be chock full of characters, with comic book types like Bullseye, Electro and Mysterio rumoured to appear.
Daredevil Season 2 will be on Netflix in 2016.
