There's a major cameo in Fantastic Beasts

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is in cinemas now, and it's a fun adventure especially for fans of the wizarding world.

The big cast includes Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston and Colin Farrell, as well as all manner of magical creatures. It's set in 1920s New York city, many decades before The Boy Who Lived... lived.

Director David Yates is back, he was in charge of four of the Potter films, and he's going to be at the helm for the rest of this saga - which is currently set to last for a total of five films.

Right now, we're heading into spoiler territory so if you don't want to find out anything else about the film - stop now!

Alrighty then. There's a pretty major cameo in the new film and it comes about in an interesting way.

We had previously heard that superstar Johnny Depp was going to be showing up in the series at some point, and also that he would be playing the part of Gellert Grindelwald. If you're not up on your Potterlore, he's pretty much the big daddy of all dark wizards but it all started out in a positive way with a plan to work with a young Albus Dumbledore to join the magical and Muggle worlds.

That all got a bit complicated and it came to a head in a massive duel between Dumbldore and Grindelwald at the end of the Second World War. That's a parallel story for the moment, taking place both before and after the events of Fantastic Beasts.

So we know Grindelwald is going to be a major baddie for this new film series and there was a rumour he might even have a brief role in the first film. That's turned out to be true, but there's more to the story. Johnny Depp appears and he's been hiding in a Colin Farrell disguise for most of the film!

That's right, a demented looking Depp is revealed to have been living inside a dapper Colin suit. It's great to get a glimpse of the character but pretty sad news for anyone who was enjoying Mr. Farrell's performance. It does make the events of the film change a little, as we get an idea of just how devious this wizard can be.

Depp is definitely back for more evil adventures in the future, and we can fully expect him to be clashing with Eddie Redmayne's Newt at some point.

Fantastic Beasts 2 is currently set for release in 2018.
