I'll be the first to admit that I have no idea what to make of Adventure Time. I tried to start watching the show a few months back and the very episode seemed like I was being thrown into the middle of an important story arc midway through a multiple series sprawl. Plus, its absolutely batshit insane.
But its also successful, so there's a movie adaptation on the way. This has been revealed before as a major animated take developing with Warner Bros but some new information has emerged. The show will be run (but not necessarily directed) by Chris McKay - who also has Lego Batman on the way. The film will be produced by Roy Lee - who has specialised in remaking foreign language films for the American audience, including The Departed, The Ring, The Lake House, The Uninvited, Oldboy, Quarantine - seriously this guy has found a niche that works. More recently, he's also done some work on How to Train Your Dragon, which makes a bit more sense.
There's no word yet on the story for the Adventure Time movie but you can be pretty sure it will be nuts and the show's creator Pendleton Ward is absolutely on board as the writer and producer. Let's hope the voice cast makes the transition as well.
It's just going to be so weird...
