Warner Bros. has announeced three brand new additions to the cast of forthcoming superhero flick Batman vs. Superman. The additions follow news earlier in the week that the movie had been pushed back again, this time to December 2016, to allow for a standalone Wonder Woman feature to slot into its previous June 2016 slot.
The newcomers to the cast are Oscar-winning actress Holly Hunter, who will be making her comic book movie debut, Callan Mulvey, best known for his role as Scyllias in this year's 300: Rise of an Empire and Jack Rollins in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Tao Okamoto who featured alongside Hugh Jackman in last year's The Wolverine.
Speaking about the additions, director Zack Snyder issued the following statement:
Holly has always been one of my favorite actresses; she has immense talent and is always captivating on screen. I had an opportunity to meet her a while back and knew instantly that I had to work with her, so as we began writing the script I made sure to create a role specifically for her.
I just had the good fortune to work with Callan on ‘300: Rise of an Empire’ and was very impressed with his incredible talent,. He’s a fantastic actor and I’m looking forward to having the chance to work with him again. And, quite simply, Tao is a striking presence whose beauty is aptly rivaled by her amazing abilities as an actress. I’m really excited to have her joining us on this adventure.
In the official press release from Warner Bros., the studio stated that each of the new actors would be playing all-new characters created specifically for the movie rather than portraying established DC Universe staples - not that that'll stop people from speculating or anything!
