It looks as though things are progressing at full speed now for the planned reboot of The Fantastic Four, with Vanity reporting that the part of chief antagonist, the iconic Dr. Doom, looks likely to be filled by Toby Kebbell, who has just entered advanced discussions with producers.
Kebbell, 31, is best known for his work on movies including RocknRolla, The Sorcerer's Apprentic, War Horse andWrath of the Titans, and he'll be playing Kobain this summer's guaranteed smash Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. It's thought that Kebbell was up against some fierce competition for the role, with other names mooted including Sam Riley, Domhnall Gleeson, Eddie Redmayne and Jack Huston, but although the deal isn't quite done yet, it looks as though he's emerged ahead of the rest of the field.
It's been 7 years since the last big-screen version of The Fantastic Four, and in that time the comic book adaptation market has exploded thanks to the likes of Iron Man and The Avengers, so starting from scratch with the group for a flick based heavily on the "Ultimate" run of comics is probably a good idea. Let's be honest, it probably can't be any worse than the last two movies!
