Tom Cruise talks new alien flick
"But I would rather go hard and fail than not do it"

Tom Cruise has recently spoken about his upcoming film Edge of Tomorrow which is based on the sci-fi novel, All You Need is Kill. In the Groundhog Day style film, Cruise plays a soldier who fights against aliens and who wakes up in the same place 24 hours previous to every time he dies.

"You've got to tell the audience the rules," said Cruise speaking to Empire magazine. "The alien invasion is simmering in the background. It's kind of Back to the Future. I love movies that ask, 'If you did have to live your life over again, what would happen?'"

Cruise explained hwo he isn't afraid of taking risks even if there is a possibility of failure. "I'm trying to understand my craft. It's about pushing myself and making all kinds of films: comedy, drama, different genres. At the time I did Born on the Fourth of July, people were saying 'It's going to ruin your career.' But I would rather go hard and fail than not do it."
