I keep expecting this to be revealed as an elaborate joke but it seems the Angry Birds movie is a totally real thing and here's the latest trailer to prove it.
There's a plot and everything, with a loner angry bird (one of the red ones - from the game) who is suspicious of the new porcine visitors and turns out to be right when they steal a whole mess of eggs. New to this trailer is a look at the way in which the movie will mirror the actual moments from the game where birds get flung at piggie buildings. And they'll have superpowers just like in the mobile game...
It's all pretty weird but it actually does seem like some effort has gone into crafting a storyline which makes sense and it doesn't look totally terrible. There's a decent voice cast on hand as well including Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Bill Hader and Peter Dinklage. The only real issue is that the whole affair feels like it should have been released in 2010 when people were still massively into the franchise.
Angry Birds is out in May 2016.
