Tim Burton hasn't has the best couple of years as a director, arguably it's been more than a decade since he last hit his stride, so let's hope that his latest will be a little more interesting. And all evidence suggests Miss Peregrine's School for Peculiar Children is right up his alley.
Here's the first trailer.
Barmy visuals - check. Dark clothing - check. Weird outcasts with huge eyes - double check. This is a Tim Burton film alright and it looks like he's finding plenty of inspiration in Ransom Riggs' 2011 novel. Stardust scribe Jane Goldman is on board and the cast is stellar, including Asa Butterfield, Eva Green and Samuel L. Jackson. Our own Chris O'Dowd also pops up, alongside the great Terence Stamp and equally marvellous Judi Dench.
If Burton can keep the story on track and balance the dark tone with those magical visuals this could be a long awaited return to form. See it in cinemas in September 2016.
