Alarmingly, it has been almost seven years since James Cameron took us to the incredible planet of Pandora for Avatar and while we not-so-patiently await his long planned series of sequels other plans are afoot.
The World of Avatar is coming to Walt Disney World in Orlando by the middle of 2017. You'll be able to wander around a recreation of Pandora as well as step onto two rides which will show you the details of this extraordinary place in a number of different ways.
At the end of one of the rides you'll meet a native Na'vi Shaman and we've got a sneak peek of what the character will look like here.
That's an actual animatronic puppet which will interact with guests. Look at the detail in the face, and the range of expression when she turns to deliver an offhand remark. It's pretty incredibly how far this technology has come, no doubt helped by other systems like motion and performance capture.
There's no doubt this is going to be an incredible experience for fans, and hopefully it actually arrives while we continue to wait for James Camerons next film.
