Shane Black wrote Lethal Weapon and The Last Boy Scout and The Monster Squad.
He wrote and directed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Iron Man 3.
You should be very excited about his latest, a 70s set comedy thriller called The Nice Guys. It has Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe teaming up to find a missing girl, and the final trailer made giggle over and over.
Black defintiely has a formula, in fact I'm pretty surprised that this doesn't take place at Christmas, but when it's this consistently entertaining who cares if it has maybe been done before.
Could these folks pretty much be interchanged with Robert Downey jr and Val Kilmer in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang? Perhaps, but then we wouldn't get to see Ryan Gosling increasingly coming to terms with how funny he can be.
The first quick reviews for The Nice Guys are filtering out and they're suggesting another triumph fo Black. I just wish he didn't take 10 years off making movies in the 90s, how many more classics could we have seen in that time?
The Nice Guys is out in Ireland in June, 2016.
