In a summer full of sequels and safe cinematic fare, Boyhood is something truly special. Not only does it shy away from spectacle but the production was totally unique.
Director Richard Linklater cast 7 year old Ellar Coltrane in 2002 and every summer until 2013 he shot a number of scenes with him and a small group of actors. 12 years later, Boyhood becomes a portrait of an actual child growing into a man onscreen, in a way we've never seen before.
You can get a glimpse of the amazing change from boy to man in this new TV spot, which highlights the series of photos that kicks off the movie.
Boyhood also stars Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke.
See it in cinemas from the 11th of July 2014.
