Back when I first started writing professionally about movies, the internet was abuzz with news of a tiny American independent movie called Ink. Treking the wilds of the web in 2009 I managed to contact the husband/wife filmmaking team of Jamin and Kiowa Winans and interviewed them about their startling microbudget movie.
In a world bereft of original ideas, Ink was a bolt out of the blue. A dark fairytale mixing dreams and real life as well as strange and wonderful action elements and home grown effects, it was one of the most unique films I've ever seen and if you somehow missed it, you should track it down immediately.
Jamin went quiet for a couple of years, producing a showcase short in 2010 called Uncle Jack before the couple moved to Europe for a spell. For fans, the long time between updates has been painful but the wait is over - the trailer for The Frame is here!
No preamble, just watch it below. It's pretty darn gorgeous.
As in Ink, its clear that the music is going to heavily intertwined into the narrative yet again and I honestly can't remember a trailer which was so tantalising without revealing anything at all. The editing is incredible and that's just one of the tasks Winans is taking on again as well as composter and writer.
We'll have more on The Frame as soon as we can, maybe even a quick interview with the filmmakers, ahead of its release later in 2014. Again the film is going to be self-distributed by Double-Edge films so keep your eye on their official Facebook page to see when you can get your hands on it.
