How to Train Your Dragon 2 was, without a doubt, one of the animation highlights of 2014. And you can see the huge amount of effort which goes into creating a film of this scale and depth and beauty with this making-of which is available online.
Take note, its a full 55 minutes long but you get incredible access behind the scenes at Dreamworks animation and get to see all the different processes which go into making a film like this. I especially love how much 2D work is still needed to put these films together, as well as falling out of airplanes and, of course, soft toys.

This making-of originally appeared on the blu-ray release of the film but this is the first time its available online. And it's pretty clear that Dreamworks is doing this as way to keep the movie on the minds of audiences in the run up to the Oscars.
There are some great contenders in the animated category this year, despite the lack of The Lego Movie, but I really do think HTTYD 2 will clinch it. Big Hero 6 is cute and all but lacks the depth on offer in Dreamworks' film, while Irish film Song of the Sea is just too much of an outlyer to get real votes and the same goes for The Tale of the Princess Kaguya. And as much as I love Laika, The Boxtrolls just doesn't have the legs for the competition.
Dragons it is then, as far as my prediction goes.
The Oscars take place on the 22nd of February 2015.
