Brad Bird is basically a genius. As if his work on 1999's The Iron Giant wasn't enough to secure it, the man went on to write and direct The Incredibles - which is still for my money Pixar's best film. Now he's back, with a live action offering, in Tomorrowland.
The film has reached near mythical status since it began development a few years back at Disney, originally under the title of 1952 and with Lost's Damon Lindelof also on board as a writer. Details were vague and teasers included strange boxes full of Disney relics. Then came the rebrand, borrowing a name from one of the regions of Disneyland - no doubt in pursuit of some tasty cross promotional money.
But none of that matters when you've got a teaser trailer like this...
Firstly, if there is any way you can get George Clooney to narrate your trailer you pretty much always should. Secondly, when was the last time you saw something which conjured up this level of wonder? Ok, not including Interstellar.
The plotline goes like this: "Bound by a shared destiny, a teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor embark on a mission to unearth the secrets of a place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory."
And I'm not going to read anymore if I can. Let's preserve some mystery shall we?
Tomorrowland arrives in cinemas in May 2015.
