Ex Machina is a top quality sci-fi film written and directed by Alex Garland, also known for Sunshine and the script for dread. It's dark and cool and sinister and it also has a really strange dance scene which comes out of nowhere featuring some excellent moves by star Oscar Issac.
It's a brilliantly played moment by all involved, giving the audience a little breathing room from the heavy stuff which is going on elsewhere in this science lab of a house, and shows of a lighter side of the film as well as Issac's character. It's also a testament to the skills of first time director Alex Garland that somehow this moment doesn't feel out of place, its just as barmy as the rest of what's going on.
We got the chance to talk to the films other star Domhnall Gleeson in Dublin recently about his experience of working with Garland. He was very nice indeed.
Ex Machina is coming to home video in June 2015.
