160 million iPhone 8 OLED displays ordered by Apple

Apple has ordered an estimated 160 million OLED displays for its upcoming iPhone 8 device, according to a new report from the Korean Herald.

The report states that Samsung Display, a subsidiary of parent company Samsung Electronics, has finalised a new deal to supply Apple with 60 million OLED displays on top of an existing deal between the two companies to supply Apple with 100 million OLED displays for the iPhone 8.

The deal suggests Apple is planning to see considerable sales of the iPhone 8 when it is released later this year.

Apple currently sells around 200 million iPhones a year.
