Amazon Purchases Twitch For Almost $1Billion

According to The Wall Street Journal, Amazon has struck a deal with video-game streaming site, Twitch, to buy them out for $970m. This follows reports that acquisition talks between Twitch and Google had fallen off in recent weeks.
According to Twitch CEO Emmett Shear,

"Amazon and Twitch optimize for our customers first and are both believers in the future of gaming… "Being part of Amazon will let us do even more for our community. We will be able to create tools and services faster than we could have independently. This change will mean great things for our community, and will let us bring Twitch to even more people around the world."

The acquisition is suspected to be finalized by the end of the year.
