While Android 5.0 Lollipop is only rolling out to many devices as we write, there are reports that the next update will arrive early next year.
Android 5.1, according to AndroidPit who received confirmation from two sources within Google, may roll out to eligible handsets by the end of February. This update will come with a host of new features and bug fixes. These include an added silent mode, fixes for sudden app closures, improved battery management, and a variety of other improvements. Many smartphone owners are still awaiting the arrival of Android 5.0, so it’s a little unusual to have one eye on what the next version will bring.
Google’s own Nexus devices have been updated to Android 5.0, with many running it out of the box. Motorola says that many of its devices will get the update before the end of 2014; HTC’s One and One M8 should receive it by February; and Sony recently confirmed that Android 5.0 will be rolled out to the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 handset series at the start of 2015.
Stay tuned to find out when Android 5.0 will arrive on your device, and for more information regarding Android 5.1.
