Android L's heads up notifications arrive early through third-party app
Google’s upcoming operating system release, Android L, will feature a new heads up notification tool, but Android users can get a taste of it early thanks to the Heads Up! application.

This application, from developer Alexander Breen, will bring Android L’s floating, overlaid notifications to Android devices running version 4.3 of the software and above. Users can select what applications they’d like to receive heads-up notifications from.

The actual process of getting everything set up is a little more complicated, but a video tutorial from Lifehacker shows how you can go about getting started. Don’t worry about the bits that talk about rooting; you won’t need that at the moment.
