Android Wear Lollipop Update Incoming - Get Ready for a Whole Lot of Watchfaces

Google's smartwatch operating system will be getting an upgrade to Lollipop next week, according to an official blog post from the company.

Right now, there are dozens of watch faces available through the Google Play store, including plenty of recognisable characters like the undead chap from Plants vs Zombies, a Minion from Despicable Me and even Santa Claus himself.

Google wants to give you the chance to express yourself, to show off your unique personality with your watch face style - and that also means opening up Android Wear to developers. New watch faces can now be submitted via the watch face API and they'll soon be allowing new apps to be developed for the platform.

The latest Android Wear update is also said to improve the experience of browsing and downloading, in response to customer feedback.

According to Google, the update will be rolling out over the next week and will happen over the air, so keep an eye on your watch.
