Apparently not everyone is interested in upgrading to the latest version of iOS.
According to GSMarena, adoption of iOS 8 is still just 40 percent, despite it being out in the wild for more than three weeks. That lags significantly behind the near instant 50 percent share of previous versions of the operating system. What's more, recent figures suggest that some users are actually downgrading to iOS 6!
It's likely that this shift has to do with the perceived issues with the most recent iOS update, which saw early adopters hit with performance problems. A second update smoothed out those corners and there's a major release planned for the upcoming iOS 8.1, apparently set for October 20th.
Right now, users are wary about upgrading which just means that people are more connected than ever to the news around their handsets. When the new version releases and its proven to be stable, as well as introducing ApplePay functionality, you'll see users heading to the new OS in droves.
