Yesterday Apple finally confirmed the existence of their two new handsets as well as a piece of wearable tech which will be taking the world by storm in the very near future. Here's everything you might have missed.
The main point of the press conference was to reveal the brand new iPhone 6 but Apple also took a cue from last year's models to unveil two different options - the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
These handsets represent a big change for the company, not only are they now working in two different sizes but they're also releasing their biggest phones to date. So the iPhone 6 comes with a 4.7 inch screen while the iPhone 6 Plus has a full 5.5 inches of screen real-estate.
It's the Plus which has been getting most of the attention and deservedly so. Not only is it the first time Apple has made anything resembling a phablet but it also comes with features which make the most of that form factor, like a landscape mode for the home screen which gives you more room to play.
Both handsets come with new Retina HD screens that cover a huge amount of the front of the new rounded form factor. They're gorgeous looking handsets and come with the faster 64-bit processing that's also more energy efficient. In fact, the iPhone 6 Plus has significantly increased battery life thanks to its larger size.
Other features include NFC for the first time, a reachability option which makes using the larger screens easier and Apple Pay which will allow you to use contactless payments for transactions, secured with a fingerprint.
They also unveiled the Apple Watch, the first wearable ever to come from Apple. It's got a square face and 11 selectible displays and has really been pitched as a timepiece before anything else.
Of course, it also does lots of things - including tracking your fitness, logging your calls and messages and even allows you to respond by dictating to Siri. A couple of physical buttons and a digital crown allow for more precise interaction on the small touchscreen and everything about the interface looks slick.
Two different sizes will be available (38 mm and 42 mm) and the screen sizes vary too (1.5 vs 1.7 inches). There are also three styles - Watch, Sports and Edition - which feature cosmetic differences and also the option to get a gold-plated Apple Watch if you are so inclined. Together with numberous easily interchangeable straps, this watch allows for plenty of customisation.
The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will be available in the US and the UK from the 19th of September but we'll have to wait a little longer over here. The 5s released in Ireland about 5 weeks after it did in the US so we should expect to get hands on by the end of October. the handsets will be available in gold, silver and space grey in 16/64/128 GB configurations.
The Apple Watch doesn't have a confirmed release date but won't arrive until the first couple of months of 2015 at the earliest. It comes in two different sizes and three different configurations, with a range of straps available at launch.
