It could be argued that Siri is already a far greater success story than Kinect and Google Glass could ever hope for. At least in the sense that some people actually use her. Like, they choose to, out of preference. Incrediblé!
Much of this is down to accessibility, the program's ability to understand inflection and language. As it stands Siri speaks English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese and Korean. And quite well too. Otherwise iPhone users wouldn’t, you know, user her!
And if a recent job posting listed here, is to be believed (and honestly, why wouldn't it be)the number of languages Siri speaks is going to jump from nine to twenty two as Apple attempt to increase her fluency with an additional13 languages.
Possibly, this sudden multi-lingual push comes in the wake of Microsoft’s own Cortana AI assistant stealing the recent limelight. In any case, the end result will be more jobs and a better product.I’m not sure about the rest of you, but I don’t see Siri toppled from her pedestal any time soon.
