Apple warns jet-black iPhone 7 may show up scratches

Last night, Apple unveiled the new iPhone 7, which will be available in a jet-black colour option. It looks stunning, but unfortunately it will be more prone to showing up scratches and micro-abrasions.

Apple made a big deal of this shiny new colour, highlighting that it’s achieved through a "remarkably precise, nine-step process of anodisation and polishing" process. But this comes with a disclaimer too.

"The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodisation and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone."

The other colour options feature a matte finish, making them less likely to show scratches and wear. However, you’ll likely protect them with a case too.
