After months of speculation, Apple revealed that the eagerly anticipated Apple Watch will be released in April.
Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed the news during the company's quarterly earnings call. He noted that development of the smartwatch is going according to schedule, indicating that April was the plan all along. Apple’s vague “early 2015” release window didn’t pinpoint much, but many had figured that this would mean March.
Cook found it hard to hide his enthusiasm when talking about the Watch. He said, “The creativity and software innovation going on around Apple Watch is incredibly exciting. We can’t wait for our customers to experience them when Apple Watch becomes available."
The iPhone compatible Watch features a premium rectangular design with rounded off edges and a sapphire coating. One of its distinctive features is the digital crown, which will be used for navigation. The smartwatch will work in tandem with iOS 8 devices, including the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, thanks to the companion app, which will allow Watch owners do much more.
