Gold iPhone owners rejoice, as you’ll soon be able to pick up a Gold-backed iPad to match your premium smartphone.
Apple will announce a new 9.7-inch iPad next month, according to people familiar with Apple’s plans who spoke to Bloomberg, and it will feature a gold backplate. The new device will also be available in the traditional silver and grey colour choices.
Not only is Apple looking to rejig its range of colours, but some have suggested that the iPad may go bigger in the wake of the release of the larger iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. People “with knowledge of the situation” reportedly said that a 12.9-inch device is in the works, but won’t be announced until next year.
Those interested in the new iPad, which will be released next month, may be tempted by the new colours, but new features are also reportedly planned. According to code in the iOS 8.1 developer beta, future iPads may feature Touch ID fingerprint readers and Apple Pay support. While it’s unlikely that you’ll be using your iPad to pay for items at the shop, you may be able to avail of the service to pay for in-app purchases.
Apple is expected to host another event to announce new products on October 21st, but that date hasn’t been confirmed just yet.
