Canon announced today that it will be launching a new addition to the
EOS range, the
EOS M, this October which will make for the perfect companion to the photography enthusiast (not quite the professional, but certainly not amateur). The companys first ever compact system camera (CSC) the
EOS M features DSLR-quality imaging, full HD movie mode with built in video snapshot editing and a variety of creative filters and lighting modes such as fish eye, toy camera effect and grainy B&W. It's compact and stylish chassis houses a 18 megapixel APS-C hybrid CMOS sensor, a Hybrid AF systemthat supports super-fast, accurate AF when shooting stills and movies, an ISO range of 100-12,800 (extendable to 25,600) and a super-fast shutter allowing you to capture split-second action. The inclusion of Canon's DIGIC 5 processor makes for sharp and bright colours and skin tones beautiful, which will no doubt be visible on its 3.0inchClear View LCD II Touch screen.
The
EOS M is available in sleek black, glossy white, stylish silver or bold red and launches alongside two new lenses, the
EF-M 22mm f/2 STM pancake and the
EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM standard zoom, as well as a new compact EX Speedlite – the
Speedlite 90EX flash unit (which joyfully ships as standard). Both new lenses feature new Stepper Motor technology for exceptionally smooth AF performance, as well as precision Canon optics, while their compact designs offer the perfect form-factor to complement the camera’s pocket-sized body. For those who want to push their images even further, the
EOS M can also utilise Canon’s extensive range of over 70 EF lenses with the new
Mount Adapter EF-EOS M although it comes at a price.
