Cher apologises for bomb emoji tweet following Istanbul attack

Cher has issued an apology for a tweet posted in the aftermath of the deadly attack in Istanbul.

Her original tweet, posted on Tuesday, featured a bomb and explosion emoji. The inclusion of these emoji resulted in a public backlash on social media, prompting the singer to write another tweet in which she apologised and explained that she’s too used to using emoji to “say more than 140 letters.”

The message of her original tweet was on point, but the emoji were a misstep.

The number of deaths has risen to 42 and hundreds more were injured in the attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk international airport.
