Cliq Case Adds More Buttons to Android
New Kickstarter aims to make use of empty space on the back of phones...

Kickstarter is great, isn't it? Not only is it a fantastic platform to gain an insight into the tech world, but every so often it throws up a real gem of an idea, and that's certainly true for the new smart smartphone cover from Cliq.

This device takes advantage of the fact that, despite the fact that the display area of smartphones continues to increase in size, nobody is paying any attention to the back of the device - meaning that there's a huge amount of real estate to be utilized in all manner of clever ways.

What Cliq plans to do is add three touch sensitive bottons to compatible smartphones through a clever rear cover - essentially killing two birds with one stone, protecting your device and adding some much needed tactile functionality. The whole thing works using NFC, and the three buttons can be customized using an accompanying app - with both long and short presses recognized differently by the device, essentially offering users a total of six functions at their fingertips.

Cliq isn't the first such Kickstarter campaign aiming to add physical buttons to Android devices, but it takes the idea and pushes it much further than previously, making it an itriquing proposition.

You can check out the project's Kickstarter video below and, if you like what you see, you can pledge your support by heading on over to the official campaign page here.
