Disney rollercoaster shut down over selfie stick

Disney announced a ban on selfie sticks last summer, but some people didn’t get the memo.

The California Screamin' rollercoaster at Disney California Adventure was shut down after a rider pulled out a selfie stick. The incident occurred at 5:30pm on Monday, but the ride was back up and running as normal soon after.

Disney originally introduced the ban on selfie sticks over safety concerns. It previously posted signs outside rides warning people not to use selfie sticks, but later implemented a policy whereby selfie sticks would be confiscated during bag checks.

So, if you want a keepsake from a ride, just buy the expensive photo after the experience.
