Eir to launch Irish WiFi calling

Eir will become the first Irish mobile service provider to launch WiFi calling, as noted in an article from the Irish Times.

The new WiFi calling feature allows users to make calls and send texts through their WiFi network, but unlike similar services like Skype or WhatsApp, calls and texts are made through the device’s integrated dialling and messaging systems.

The WiFi calling feature can be used to make calls and send texts when abroad, enabling users to avoid costly roaming charges.

Eir’s new WiFi calling feature officially launches at the end of February.
