Facebook trialling self-destructing messages

Facebook appears to be taking a leaf out of Snapchat’s book with the introduction of Disappearing Messages.

The feature is currently being trialled, as evidenced by the screenshot posted by Twitter user iOSAppChanges. Messenger, according to the screenshot, deletes new messages from a conversation 15 minutes after they’ve been sent.

Facebook Messenger v68.0 for iOS is now available to download from the App Store. But not everyone has access to Disappearing Messages. The App Store changelog also makes no mention of this new feature, so it seems to be limited to select users for the time being.

With Snapchat becoming more and more popular, especially among teens, it should come as no surprise that Facebook would attempt to emulate the service somewhat.
