According to reports over on CNET right now, it looks likley that we're going to see the first of the new range of Intel processor based Windows 8 tablets hitting stores towards the end of the year, with November being the most likely candidate at the moment, assuming that there are no delays.
The report also claims that as many as 50% of the devices will offer some form of hybrid technology or convertability, meaning that users will have a much broader range of flexibility available to them in terms of the kind of device that best suits them. Despite the popularity of the touch screen based tablet format, there are still many users out there who prefer to have the ability to type on a traditional keyboard, rather than using the screen, so it looks as though device manufacturers are finally starting to factor this into their designs.
Each of these new Intel Windows 8 devices will feature the company's new Clover Trail Atom chip, with potential there for future devices to harness the power of the high-tech Ivy Bridge processor down the line.
