The smartwatch market is still very much an open race, but the field is undoubtedly about to narrow as the launch of the Apple Watch - rumoured to arrive in March 2015 - looms ever closer.
But there's still plenty of room at the party and one player who might be about to enter is Swatch. In 2014, the company mentioned that they were interested in getting involved in the smartwatch scene but wouldn't confirm at the time whether it was through a collaboration or with their own unique product.
New information straight from Swatch CEO Nick Hayek now suggests they'll be creating their own device which will go head to head with the likes of Apple, Samsung, Sony and many more. It seems they've been working on smartwatch tech for quite some time, with the intention of creating a device that's up to their exacting standards that also includes some extra 'smart' functionality.
Swatch hasn't ruled out working with other companies on their on wearable devices in the future. We should have more info on the Swatch-Smartwatch before summer 2015.
