Geo-tagging game Ingress launches on iOS
The geo-tagging phenomenon Ingress is now available to download on iOS devices, encouraging players to explore their local area.

Ingress pits two teams against one another with portals up for control in cities around the world. These portals, which are simply real world landmarks, can be claimed for a side if their players check in at that spot. The narrative depends on the actions of players and is shown in a number of live-action, news-style report videos that players can watch in the game.

The game has been a bit of a hit since its release. It has been downloaded 4 million times on Android and in the first half of this year, real-world sites have been interacted with more than 22.4 million times.

Google’s Niantic Labs released a trailer for the game, which should give you an idea of how it works. If you want to explore an area, take part in a fun game, and you’re not as bothered about showing off your check-ins, Ingress is worth a look.
