Google has just updated its Gmail for iOS app to version 3.1415926, just so that it could reference pi.
However, the update does more than simply change the digits and make a maths joke; it also adds iPhone 6 support. Previously, Gmail was displayed in low resolution on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Some users were complaining about “fuzzy” text when using Gmail as a result of a zoomed view on the larger screens. But Google has added support for these larger devices and their resolutions.
The app itself is the same as it always has been with no added functionality or features. Interestingly, the iPhone 6 Plus doesn't get any kind of "sidebar" in Gmail, which is a feature of the regular iOS Mail app in landscape mode.
The question is, how quickly will Google want to add new features or improvements, as the resulting update won’t be quite as catchy?
If you can’t pass up the opportunity to have Gmail pi on your phone, or you actually need it for your iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, you can download it from the App Store.
