Google's Android N name internet poll is going horribly wrong

Google turned to the internet in a bid to get names for its upcoming Android N operating system. Perhaps it was hoping for something as ridiculous and notable as Boaty McBoatface, but the poll hasn’t gotten off to the smoothest of starts.

The company encouraged social media users to nominate a word starting with the letter “N.” Suggestions have ranged from Android Nope, a playful tease, to offensive racial slurs.

According to Gizmodo, online message board 4chan, which allows members to post anonymously, has rallied to flood the Android naming suggestion site with offensive terms.

Other social media users have played along, suggesting “Nutella,” “nectarine,” and “nachos.” If you have a clever suggestion, you can join the conversation by tweeting with the hashtag #NameAndroidN.
