There’s a new beta update available for WhatsApp, which adds a font called FixedSys. This is the font that was used across Windows 1.0 back in 1985, so that’ll be a blast from the past for some and some sort of archaic text for others.
But you don’t have to be signed up to the beta to use it. All you have to do is put three of the grave symbol, which looks like ', before and after the word or phrase that you want to modify. So, you could write '''Look at this weird font I found'''
On iOS, you need to hit the 123 key in the corner and then press and hold the apostrophe to find the grave accent. Android users can find it on the second page of punctuation and symbols.
This is the latest way to jazz up your messages. It’s also possible to add bold, italics, or a strikethrough.
Bold: Add an asterisk (*) before and after the specific words or phrases you want to embolden e.g. *hello*
Italics: Add an underscore (_) before and after your chosen words or phrases e.g. _hello_
Strikethrough: Add a tilde (~) before and after the words or phrases you want to strike a line through e.g. ~hello~
