HTC has been teasing plenty of image released revelations on the way at a special event in New York on the 8th of October.
It's pretty much confirmed at this point that one of the reveals will be the RECamera - a rugged video and stills camera which apparently looks like a tiny little periscope. I kid you not.
But it seems like the company will have even more to show off, including a new handset called the HTC M8 Eye. The big change here is that the phone will feature a 13 megapixel camera on the rear. That's hardly big news compared to most other manufacturers but for HTC it would seem to suggest that they've finally given up on the idea of using their UltraPixel tech.
UltraPixels promised better low light performance but rarely really delivered on the face, with the ultimately low resolution images one of the few sticking points of these otherwise superlative phones. A decent 13 mp snapper would help to solve that issue and rumour suggests the extra depth sensor would also remain, retaining the great post-focussing abilities of the phone.
