HTC misses self-imposed 90-day Android update deadline

HTC is usually good for getting new Android OS updates out to handsets within 90 days of their release, but it has missed the deadline for the Android Lollipop update.

The company's Vice President of Product Management, Mo Versi, explained why HTC missed the February 1st timeline. He wrote on HTC.com that Google faced many issues with the release of Lollipop, which HTC had to incorporate. He added, “While we are committed to delivering within this time period, we are even more committed to ensuring these updates result in an even better experience with your device because that is what the updates are intended to do."

HTC is trying to get updates out as soon as possible and is making great progress, according to Versi. However, HTC device owners must wait a little while longer than expected to get their hands on the new update.

HTC isn’t the only company having issues with the Android Lollipop update. Motorola recently had to explain why it was taking so long to roll out the update to handsets. It put the delay down to the update process being slow and complicated despite Google’s efforts to improve it.
