While the Huawei P8’s camera was impressive, the P9 looks set to improve this feature further. Huawei has partnered with photography experts Leica who will provide technology for smartphones in the near future.
Huawei CEO Richard Yu was full of praise for Leica, expressing how exciting this partnership is. "Leica is a legend in the world of photography; we believe no other manufacturer has revolutionised the industry as much as them,” he said.
"We, Huawei, take the utmost pride in exceptional quality and Leica is in a class of its own in its sector."
Meanwhile, Leica Camera AG CEO Oliver Kaltner said that this is “an excellent opportunity to introduce its proven optical expertise into a new product segment.”
"Smartphones make a very important contribution to the world of photography and open an important door for Leica to new target groups and fields of application,” he added.
It’s as yet unknown what Huawei device will introduce this technology. The Huawei P9 did not make an appearance at Mobile World Congress, so it’s possible that it could be ready for the launch of this handset, whenever that may be.
