Huawei’s Honor brand looks set to take on Samsung directly with the release of its Note 8, which features a massive 6.6-inch 2K resolution screen. This is sure to dwarf Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7, which will reportedly pack a 5.7-inch screen.
Honor, the sister company to Huawei, unveiled its Note 8 specs and it looks like they mean business. The Note 8 features an eight-core Kirin 955 processor and 4GB of RAM. There’s also a 4,500mAh battery to keep things ticking over, though it hasn’t been said how far this could stretch.
The Honor Note 8 also has a respectable price. While it’s currently only available in China, it works out at around €310 for the 32GB model and around €350 for the 128GB variant.
It doesn’t look like the Note 8 will be a Chinese exclusive for long. Huawei is hosting a launch event in San Francisco on August 16, which could be the Note 8’s time to shine in front of a US audience. It’s unclear if it will make its way to Europe and there are no events lined up just yet.
