Those on older Apple products, such as the iPhone 4s and iPad 2, were advised against downloading iOS 8 when it was made available. That changes today with the rollout of iOS 8.1.1.
This update is designed to ensure that Apple’s latest operating system runs smoothly on the iPhone 4s and iPad 2. iOS 8.1.1 also includes the usual bug fixes and increased stability, which we have come to expect from a new update. But those using older Apple devices will be pleased to see “performance improvements for iPad 2 and iPhone 4s” listed in the update’s notes.
It’s not as significant an update as the 8.1 update, which added Apple Pay and brought the Camera Roll back. At the same time, we’re guessing that some Apple users out there will be pleased by it.
If you are using an iPhone 4s or an iPad 2, you don’t need to be as wary of downloading iOS 8 anymore. But if you are updating, remember to back up all your important data.
