iPad Air 2 dummy device shows off Touch ID security
The iPad Air 2 has allegedly made another appearance, this time in photos that show a dummy unit alongside the original iPad Air.

Once again, the distinctive ring of the Touch ID fingerprint system can be seen on the front and Apple appears to be tweaking other aspects of the device. The images come courtesy of Japanese site ASCII Plus, but it should be noted that it could be a ruse, especially as the dummy unit is missing the Apple logo.

It appears that the iPad Air 2 is slightly thinner than the iPad Air, which measures 7.5mm thick. Apple may be doing away with the slide switch that can be found above the volume keys on the current iPhone and iPad ranges, while the slate looks to feature fewer, but larger, speaker grilles on the base of the device.

We’ll probably have to wait until October to get an official announcement regarding the iPad Air 2.
