The new iPad, which is likely to be titled the iPad Air 2, will feature a hefty 2GB RAM according to these sources who spoke with Taiwan's TechNews. If this is true, it marks a significant step forward for the tablet device, which has stuck with 1GB RAM since the iPad 3. Apple may be straying from its tried and tested formula as a result of the rumoured split-screen feature that has been spotted in iOS 8.
The supply chain sources also spilled some details regarding the iWatch. Apparently, Apple’s smartwatch will launch with 512MB RAM and 8GB on-board storage. It, unlike many smart wearables, will be able to function without an iPhone or iPad.
The rumour mill is going into overdrive at the moment, but thankfully we don’t have long to wait to see what Apple’s official plans are. The company is set to reveal what it has been up to at an event on September 9th.
