The iPad Air 2’s internal components have allegedly been photographed, showing a brand new A8X chip and a cable for the Touch ID button.
The images, leaked by Apple.club.tw, back up some earlier reports regarding the eagerly anticipated tablet. The iPad Air 2 will reportedly feature a faster chip than what is available in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, will boast Touch ID functionality, and will include 2GB RAM. The iPad line has kept to 1GB in recent years, but earlier leaks also suggest that the iPad Air 2 will be upgraded.
Another image, this time of the front of the device, includes what appears to be a microphone. This front-on view also indicates that the tablet will feature the Touch ID fingerprint scanner, though it has been rumoured that it would be included on an iPad since the technology was introduced on the iPhone 5s.
Finally, in an separate leak, it is speculated that Apple may announce the launch of Apple Pay on October 18th. This date was seen on a leaked memo out of Walgreens, which is one of Apple Pay’s major launch partners alongside Disney, McDonalds, Macy's, Staples, and more. The purported memo appears to be prepping workers to be able to handle customer questions when they attempt to use Apple Pay.
